XP has been awarded a contract to supply custom power supplies to AEA Battery Systems for the UK armed forces Bowman battlefield communications system.

XP has been awarded a contract to supply custom power supplies to AEA Battery Systems for the UK armed forces Bowman battlefield communications system.

The custom units will form part of AEA's state-of-the-art battery charging system, the barracks-based alternating current charging unit (ACCU).

AEA Battery Systems provides advanced lithium-ion battery solutions and has been awarded the contract to supply all batteries, chargers and related services to the Bowman programme via General Dynamics UK.

The XP power supplies were selected due to their high power density, rugged build standard and nuclear-event-tolerant design.

Commenting on the deal, Martin Brabham, Industry Manager for Avionics and Defence said: "We have begun to reap the rewards of XP's investment in its military PSU capability with orders received in 2003 more than double the value of those of 2002".
