Medical switchers gain multiple output options

A XP Power product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Oct 8, 2004

Complementing the single-output models announced earlier this year, XP has introduced multi-output versions of the ECM40 and ECM60 families of 40 and 60W AC/DC switching power supplies.

Complementing the single-output models announced earlier this year, XP has introduced multi-output versions of the ECM40 and ECM60 families of 40 and 60W AC/DC switching power supplies.

Approved for Class I and Class II applications, both families now have products with up to three outputs at voltages from 3.3 to 48V DC.

They come in an ultracompact 50.8 x 101.6 x 30.48mm format.

The power supplies meet EN55022 Level B EMI/EMC specifications and, with maximum leakage currents of 100uA at 115V AC or 200uA at 230V AC, they are suitable for medical, industrial and IT applications.

Efficiency is between 80 and 85%, depending on model.

Output 1 is adjustable by +/-10%.

Load regulation is +/-3% on output 1 and +/-5% on outputs 2 and 3, line regulation is +/-0.5% and cross regulation is +/-2%.

Ripple and noise are within 1% peak-to-peak at 20MHz bandwidth and the power supplies feature built-in overvoltage, overload and short circuit protection.

The supplies have international safety approvals for both medical (EN60601-1/UL2601-1) and industrial (EN60950/UL60950) standards.

To aid customers' compliance of their end equipment with IEC60601-1, the ECM40 and ECM60 have dual-fused universal AC inputs.

The power supplies deliver full power between 0 and +50C and will operate at up to +80C with derating and only 140 litre/min of cooling.

Covers, looms and connector kits are available.
