COTS convertor takes military measures
The MCC is a novel off-the-shelf 400W DC/DC convertor that meets MIL-STD-1275A/B input requirements, MIL-STD-461E EMI specifications and has MIL-STD-810F shock and vibration integrity.
The MCC is a novel off-the-shelf 400W DC/DC convertor that meets MIL-STD-1275A/B input requirements, MIL-STD-461E EMI specifications and has MIL-STD-810F shock and vibration integrity With up to four outputs, and an optional 200W conditioned 24V rail, the low-profile power supply meet the needs of military applications, avoiding the costs and delays associated with custom alternatives

DC/DC convertors save PCB space
XP Power has released new additions to its I series of low power isolated DC/DC convertors.
Using a design proven through numerous semicustom power supplies developed by XP Power, the MCC unit delivers one to four individually regulated outputs between 2 and 48V DC from a nominal 28V DC input.
It features input reverse polarity protection and input-output filtering that enables the unit to meet MIL-STD-461E CE102, CS114, CS115 and CS116 for army and aircraft applications.
Line and load regulation are within +/-1% and there is no minimum load requirement.
Each output has its own control loop eliminating any crossregulation issues.
In addition, an optional 200W auxiliary output, which is clamped at 36V DC, is available to drive motors, cameras or other equipment.
Control and signalling includes a global enable or disable function, independent output inhibits and optional DC OK signals on output voltages above 3V DC.
A remote sense function is also provided.
Hold up time can be extended by the use of a user-installed external capacitor.
The power supply is typically 75% efficient at full load with 500V DC isolation from input to output, input to chassis and output to chassis.
The MCC operates from -40 to +90C at the baseplate, and baseplate cooling makes it suitable for use in conduction cooled applications.
The aluminium baseplate is fitted with an IP20 rated safety cover.
The MCC has integral overvoltage, overcurrent, overtemperature and short circuit protection.
It measures just 185 x 165 x 27.5mm.
Target applications are military vehicle and aircraft systems.
