Purpose-designed for PCB inspection, the Orbita is said to be the first microfocus X-ray system capable of providing an indexing 75-degree oblique view while maintaining true geometric magnification.
His role will comprise software and system development and he will be heavily involved in the development of the next generation of X-Tek's market-leading iXS Windows based software, which enables users to easily control X-ray source, sample manipulator and image processor.
Quiggin is a very experienced software engineer with close on 20 years experience.
He joins X-Tek from Fujifilm Electronic Imaging where he worked for some 13 years, most recently on the development of software to acquire, edit and process images from flatbed scanners.
Commenting on the appointment, Peter Marsh, Managing Director of X-Tek Systems said: "As we push back the barriers of real-time microfocus X-ray inspection, image processing and optimisation become increasingly important features of our technology.
Niall will play a leading role in our plans to further enhance the side of our pioneering iXS package".
