Yamaichi Electronics has added Version A+B+ types to its CN074 range of connectors for advanced mezzanine cards.

Yamaichi Electronics has added Version A+B+ types to its CN074 range of connectors for Advanced Mezzanine Cards All versions (B, B+, AB and A+B+) are RoHS compliant

A total of four different connector types with a different configuration are defined in the PICMG AMC specification - single-row connectors B and B+, together with the two-row AB and A+B+ with 85-340 contacts.

Yamaichi is already batch producing all four versions.

However, there is now a market trend towards the B+ connector.

This is, of course, also substantially dependent on the availability of AMC modules.

On request, Yamaichi Electronics also optionally provides custom design solutions for configurations A and C+.

All connector types with data transmission rates up to 12.5Gbit/s are screwed onto the carrier board using tried and tested 'compression mount technology' (CMT).

CMT also enables all versions to be produced and processed in compliance with RoHS.

Yamaichi Electronics has many decades of experience with CMT thanks to its market leadership in test and burn-in sockets, in which this technology is also used.

In order to prevent PCB warping that may be provoked by the connector's contact forces, the connector comes supplied with a 'stiffener', also defined in the specification.

Yamaichi Electronics also develops HF backplane connectors using the tried and tested CMT technology for the standard microTCA, the application created in the PICMG in which the AdvancedMC modules are plugged directly into the backplane.
