OTDR adds coverage for 1625nm fibre
A triple-wavelength module adds 1625nm capability to the standard 1310 and 1550nm wavelengths for the Yokogawa AQ7260 optical time-domain reflectometer.
The AQ7269 is ideally suited to meet the needs of fibre installers in the growing metro, WAN, LAN, and FTTH markets, whereas the AQ7265 is designed for fibre-optic measurements in long-haul networks.
When equipped with the AQ7269 SMF and MMF unit, the Yokogawa AQ7260 OTDR can make 1310/1550nm measurements for SMF with 34/32dB dynamic range and 850/1300nm measurement for MMF with 22.5/24dB dynamic range.
The AQ7269 can carry out measurements over up to 100km of SMF at 1550nm.
This unit will satisfy the demands of installers in both the telecommunications and datacommunications sectors.
The AQ7265 SMF unit is designed to meet the demands of telecommunications installers, and features 1310/1550nm measurement for SMF with 45/42dB dynamic range.
It will measure over distances of up to 180km of SMF at 1550nm.
The new emulation software includes batch analysis reporting and batch print functions as well as data viewing.
The AQ7260 OTDR is a compact, lightweight instrument designed to offer speed, ease of use and efficiency in the installation and servicing of optical communications networks.
The instrument features two USB 1.0 interfaces, and is housed in a light and robust package weighing only 3kg.
It incorporates an 8.4incolour TFT-LCD and an internal memory of 20Mbyte.
The Telcordia GR196 format is used for data storage.
The highest sampling resolution is 5cm, and the maximum number of measurement points is 60,000.
Operation is very straightforward, with menus and instructions available in 11 European languages.
