New voltage fluctuation/flicker and cycle-by-cycle options for the WT3000 three-phase precision power analyser make it compliant with the IEC6100-3-3 standard.

Yokogawa has added new voltage fluctuation/flicker and cycle-by-cycle options to its WT3000 three-phase precision power analyser, making it compliant with the IEC6100-3-3 standard The instrument can be used to carry out normal flicker measurement, in which it calculates all the values of the relative steady-state voltage change, the maximum relative voltage change, the period during which the relative voltage change exceeds the threshold level, the short-term flicker value, and the long-term flicker value

It then compares them with preset limits, and provides a "pass/fail" judgment.

It can also be used for the measurement of the maximum relative voltage change caused by manual switching.

It does this by measuring the maximum relative voltage change when the EUT switch is manually turned on and off, determining the average over 24 measurements, and comparing and judging against the limit.

Other parameters that can be measured include instantaneous flicker sensation and cumulative probability function.

Measurements of voltage fluctuation and flicker, along with harmonic current measurement (compliant with IEC61000-3-2 rev 2.2) are essential to test compliance with the latest European standards.

The WT3000 allows these standards tests to be performed on single- or three-phase equipment, and will determine whether the results fall within the specified limit values.

The cycle-by-cycle function takes measurements of parameters such as voltage, current, and active power for each cycle, and then lists the data on screen in a time series.

This function is intended for use in situations where the measurement data exhibit significant fluctuations.

A typical application is motor evaluation, where rapid load fluctuations can occur.

The new function takes measurements of parameters such as voltage, current and active power for each cycle, and then lists the data on screen in a time series.

Up to 3000 measurements of signals from 0.1Hz to 1kHz can be saved in CSV format.

The Yokogawa WT3000 precision power analyser is claimed to offer "best in class" precision and stability.

With a basic power accuracy of +/-0.02% of reading, DC and 0.1Hz-1MHz measurement bandwidth, and up to four input elements, the WT3000 provides a high-accuracy measurement solution for testing all types of power electronics products.
