Railway focus for EMC conference
EMC York 2004 is on track to be bigger and better than the previous EMC York events of the past 7 years, especially as far as EMC in railways is concerned.
EMC York 2004 is on track to be bigger and better than the previous EMC York events of the past 7 years, especially as far as EMC in railways is concerned Thanks to a new venue (the prestigious York Racecourse), an extended duration of two days on the 1st and 2nd July 2004, and the long- established reputation of the event, it's no wonder delegates and exhibitors from all over Europe have decided to attend, making it the UK's first truly international EMC conference this year, and the only one to consider EMC for railways

Immunity testing expanded to 2.7GHz
The York EMC Services (YES) Castleford laboratory has recently been assessed by UKAS for performing radiated immunity measurements to 2.7GHz.
Labs accredited for new medical EMC standard
The York EMC Services laboratories in Castleford (West Yorkshire) and Donibristle (Fife) are now UKAS accredited to EN60601-1-2:2001, the revised EMC standard for electromedical equipment.
For the first time, the event will host two dedicated workshops on EMC in railways, which further develop the themes from the 2003 AGGRI and IEE seminars, held in November 2003.
The workshops will cover: the Interoperability Directive and EMC; the Network Rail EMC policy update; GE/RT8015 application; fitment of new electronics into old trains; power supply and signalling compatibility; LUL EMC policy update; question and answer sessions; and an update on EN50121.
Speakers for the railways workshops are expected to include Maya Petkova (Network Rail), Roger White (WS Atkins), Tony McClumpha (Network Rail) and Chris Marshman (York EMC Services).
Naturally, York is an ideal location for an EMC in railways event: home to Europe's premier national railway museum, hosting steam locomotives from the Rocket to the Mallard, royal trains and many new attractions since the recent GBP 4 million extension.
Exhibitors and delegates can register on the York EMC Services website.
