University marks a quarter-century of
EMC training
York is celebrating 25 years by offering NARTE certification as an option to its portfolio of courses.

The York EMC Services (YES) Castleford laboratory has recently been assessed by UKAS for performing radiated immunity measurements to 2.7GHz.
Labs accredited for new medical EMC standard
The York EMC Services laboratories in Castleford (West Yorkshire) and Donibristle (Fife) are now UKAS accredited to EN60601-1-2:2001, the revised EMC standard for electromedical equipment.
Professor Andy Marvin recalls: "Mike Darnell and I were kept awake at night by the continuous rumble of trains provisioning the fleet for the Falklands War".
"We introduced the all comers open course, 'The fundamentals of design and testing for electromagnetic compatibility', in 1988 and this in updated form still runs twice per year", said Chris Marshman, Managing Director of York EMC Services.
"Our ethos has always been to give course delegates an understanding of EMC and not just a recipe book".
"EMC is not a black art; it is based on physics", said Marvin.
The provision of short courses was developed into a full master's programme and now York is celebrating 25 years by offering NARTE certification as an option to its portfolio of courses.
This is in response to trainees requiring recognition for their attendance at courses and the need to have a professional EMC qualification.
NARTE provides the only internationally recognised qualification and York has been appointed as the first NARTE examination test centre in the UK.
"Why not help us celebrate this year and come along to one of our courses".
"We have always tried to make these not only the best technically and educationally, but an enjoyable experience as well with a good social side", said Marshman.
York is an IET endorsed training provider and all courses are within its IS 9001 certification.
York is committed to providing the best in EMC continuing professional development.
Courses and Workshops can be delivered in-house and tailored to a specific customers needs.

York's services include: EMC consultancy, including design, management plans, technical documentation; telecomms approvals; EMC and electrical safety (LVD) testing at Bristol, Castleford and Dunfermline; EMC training/CPD offering NARTE certification; and EMC verification and validation instrumentation, such as the CNEIII.
