Frequency control programmed in the
field
Programmable within seconds, CPP series field instantly programmable oscillators (FIPOs) enable designers to develop products much faster and significantly reduce time-to-market.
Programmable within seconds, CPP series field instantly programmable oscillators (FIPOs) enable designers to develop products much faster and significantly reduce time-to-market In addition, the FIPOs can be reprogrammed once more after initial programming, to correct or to enable the part to be reused for a second application

Low impedance capacitors take the heat
Specialist distributor, Young Electronics, has launched a new series of surface mount capacitors that boast low impedance and high heat capability.
Infra-red remote control receivers
Small, high-performance receivers for infra-red remote control systems, NJL65V/68H000 series parts feature a metal case with mesh window, which dramatically improve EMI characteristics.
Manufactured by Cardinal Components and available from Young ECC, the CPP series FIPOs eliminate the usual two-week to three-month period required to produce a custom oscillator.
Now, without any special programming skills, designers can create oscillators, at a user specified frequency, within seconds, as they need them.
Cardinal's field programmable oscillator blanks are programmed using one of four different brogrammers, depending on the volume requirements.

Extended-temperature mini electrolytics live long
Manufactured by Nippon chemi-Con and available from Young ECC, LXYVB miniature aluminium electrolytic capacitors provide life spans of 2000 to 8000h at 105C with rated ripple current.
Surface-mount electrolytics come with high CVs
Alchip-MVE aluminium chip capacitors from Young ECC, Nippon Chemi Con's sole UK agent, feature an extended base platform on larger size devices to ensure a superior vibration withstand capability.
Ideal for prototyping, early stage design, unexpected design modifications etc, FIPOs also allow manufacturers to cope with a sudden ramp in production.
The key to cost-effective high volume production is the elimination of the need to stock specific oscillators for specific designs with a manufacturing lead-time of up to three months.
Instead one part can be stocked for any design with essentially no lead-time.
Oscillator blanks are available in Style 1, Full-Size 14-pin DIP, Style 4; Half-Size 8-pin DIP; as well as Style 7, Ceramic 5x7 SMD.
Style 8, Plastic SMD, will be released by end of Q1-01.
These oscillators offer both commercial (0 to 70C) and industrial (-20 to +70C) temperature ranges with a stability of +/-25, +/-50 and +/-100ppm.
Frequencies cover 1.0 to 133MHz with 6-digit accuracy and operating voltage is 3, 3.3 and 5V.
Other features include CMOS or TTL outputs, tristate enable/disable, and synchronous or asynchronous output control.
Two field oscillator programmers are available.
The first, the Series PG-2000P stand alone for Cardinal CPP series four pin oscillators, is a self-contained portable unit that requires no additional PC or frequency counter.
It has an internal TCXO frequency reference and features a four-line LCD showing frequency, control parameters, usage instructions and error messages.
The second, the Series PG-2000 is PC-based and caters for four-pin CPP oscillators.
It requires a PC with HPIB interface and uses an external frequency counter as reference.
The programmer is compatible with Windows 95/98/NT and 2000 For high volume applications, the Cardinal/Exatron Model 802 offers a production rate of 1000 units per hour.
It features five input tubes and six output tubes (five pass and one fail) and tube to tray transfer with quick change back to trays.
For even higher volumes, the Cardinal/Exatron Production Programmer caters for 4000 units/hour and has eight input tubes and a five tube or tape output.
Both high volume models offer optional handlers, laser marking as well as tape and reel capabilities.
