F-Pack-3 (FCN-086 series) hard metric 2mm connectors from Fujitsu are available in the UK from Young ECC.

F-Pack-3 (FCN-086 series) hard metric 2mm connectors from Fujitsu are available in the UK from Young ECC They conform to IEC 917 (DIN 43355) and IEC 61076-4-101, and support compact PCI

Addressing high-speed transmission requirements, the connectors feature low inductance, low crosstalk, and matching characteristic impedance of 52ohm.

F-Pack-3 has been designed to target the emerging 2mm hard metric market in the UK, specifically in high-density backplane applications in data and telecommunications.

Both the plug and socket side connect to the PCB via press-fit solderless terminations for efficient mounting.

The connector system also offers shielding through an integral plate and provides high integrity connection between the ground planes on mother and daughter boards.

Plug contact has a three level sequence structure, which makes connection and disconnection in an active state possible by addressing early make, late break of power pins first followed by signal pins.

The terminal side of the connector (which connects to the PCB) offers a choice of four pin lengths to support various rear-connection applications.

Consequently, customised connectors can be realised by freely combining the pin lengths of contacts and terminals.

F-Pack-3 plug and socket connectors are currently available in 5 rows up to 125 pins and 8 rows up to 200 ways.

For high-speed transmission, shield sockets are offered with an extra row of shield pins set on both sides of the mould wall.

These pins attach to a shield plate.

Thus with 5-row sockets of 55, 95, 110, 110 with key, and 125 contacts, the total pin count comes in at 77, 133, 154 and 175 for the shielded versions.

Optional colour coding keys are available in the connector key to prevent a daughter board being put into the wrong slot.

Ten different colours are offered.

Specifications include -55 to +125C operating temperature range, 1.5A DC current rating per signal pin, 750V AC voltage rating, 20mohm contact resistance, and insertion/withdrawal life of 250 times.

Mating insertion force is 0.75N per pin, and withdrawal force is 0.15N per pin.

For high-speed applications, transmission speed is 300MHz and near end crosstalk is 4.3% maximum.
