Young ECC has a new family of RGB 8 x 8 dot-matrix LED displays The tough interlocking tiles are available in three sizes and feature low power consumption, excellent display of characters and uniform RGB dot matrix

Additionally, they offer a saving of around 30 to 40% per pixel over a discrete LED solution.

This makes the devices ideal for applications such as full-colour displays found in sports stadiums, pop venues and railway terminals.

The dot matrix displays use AlGaInP/Ga As red, InGaN/sapphire green and InGaN/sapphire blue LED chips.

For R, G and B LEDs, respectively, power dissipation is 33, 60 and 60mW, peak forward current (10% duty cycle, 0.1ms pulsewidth) 100, 80 and 80mA, continuous forward current per dot is 13, 15 and 15mA and derating linear from 25C per dot is 0.13, 0.17 and 0.17mA/C.

The three sizes of tile are 38 x 38mm tile with a 5mm pitch between dots, a 50 x 50mm tile with a 6mm pitch between dots and a 60 x 60mm tile providing a 7.62mm pitch between dots.

The dot matrix display has a black face and water-clear dots.

Intensity of luminosity for the RGB dots is respectively 22, 69 and 28mcd.
