AC fans boast boosted airflow
A novel range of AC fans developed by YS Tech are claimed to outperform traditional AC fans by at least 80%.
Young Electronics has launched a new series of power AC fan The FV18025LB-A and the FV18025HB series come with speed ranges of 2900 and 3600rev/min, respectively, maximum airflows of 1050 and 1300 litre/min and low noise levels of only 33.8 and 39.8dB(A)

Low impedance capacitors take the heat
Specialist distributor, Young Electronics, has launched a new series of surface mount capacitors that boast low impedance and high heat capability.
With an input voltage of 240V AC/ 50Hz or 115V AC/60Hz, these 80mm power series AC fans offer power consumptions of only 2 and 3.6W and life expectancies at 40C of 80 and 75kh.
The fans are based on novel technology from YS Tech, and are claimed to outperform traditional AC fans by at least 80%.
The new Power Series AC fans use a metallised film capacitor to reduce the operating voltage to 20V AC, and a bridge rectifier to convert the supply to DC.
Use of a DC rather than an AC motor means that the fan's hub area is significantly reduced, allowing an airflow two-thirds higher than an equivalent AC motor at the same rotational speed, but at just 18% of the power consumption and a slightly lower noise level.
Static air pressure is more stable, again due to the use of a DC motor.
The Power Series AC fan has been proved by a series of reliability tests including breakdown voltage, insulation resistance, high temperature and life tests.
