Low impedance capacitors take the heat
Specialist distributor, Young Electronics, has launched a new series of surface mount capacitors that boast low impedance and high heat capability.
Infra-red remote control receivers
Small, high-performance receivers for infra-red remote control systems, NJL65V/68H000 series parts feature a metal case with mesh window, which dramatically improve EMI characteristics.
The Powercache provides primary 48V DC power during startup or transfer to generators, micro-turbines, fuel cells or other alternative primary or backup energy sources.
The Powercache system incorporates long life, high reliability ultracapacitors, rated at 1.6 and 2.3kW-min, that require no periodic maintenance and have an expected life of 10 years.
The new system is designed as a rack-mount device to fit the majority of telecommunication and data racks and it can be either flush or centre mounted in a 19 or 23in rack.
The Powercache system also incorporates a charging circuit that can rapidly recharge using excess energy from a 48V DC bus.
Depending on the available current the module can initially charge from full discharge to full charge in less than 15min.
Typical recharge time after a discharge is dependent on available current and depth of discharge but can be from 1 or 2min up to 10min to full recharge.
The module can support in excess of 100,000 cycles regardless of depth of discharge.
The module also incorporates status indicators that provide front panel LED and relay contact closures indicating power, charging and fault status.
The Powercache system complies with Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) standards.
The Powercache incorporates a DC/DC boost convertor that will reduce the slope of the ultracapacitor discharge to mimic a typical lead acid battery slope.
Optimum bridge time for the module is between seconds to minutes and is rated in watt minutes.
A watt minute is defined as the amount of power (watts) that can be supplied across the output discharge slope for 1min.
