Rectifier controller makes MOSFETs behave
Zero point detector driver allows designers to replace lossy Schottky diodes with surface mount MOSFETs for improved efficiency in power supply designs.
The accuracy of the ZXSC400 series' load and line regulation means that for the full supply range of lithium ion cells for example, the convertor ensures that the output voltage typically changes by less than 1%.
Output voltages are only limited by the VCE of the pass transistor.
The boost convertor can produce an output current up to 300mA.
With a quiescent current of 4.5uA, the ZXSC410 includes a shutdown pin that is set according to a preset voltage threshold, the ZXSC420 has an end of regulation flag instead.
Indicating when the battery is approaching full discharge, the flag gives sufficient time for a controlled system shut down before regulation ceases, so using all available battery energy.
Designed to be used in conjunction with a high performance discrete transistor and rectifier diode on the output, the SOT23-6 packaged ZXSC410 and 420 ensure maximum versatility while minimising component count and board space requirement.
Also from Zetex, a combined transistor and Schottky device in the 3 x 2mm micro-leaded package is an ideal complement to the boost convertor IC in space-critical applications.
