Controller and monitor to debut at PCIM Europe
Zetex is to launch two new products at this year's PCIM Europe: the ZXBM1004 is a single-phase brushless motor controller and the ZXCT1030 is a highly integrated high-side current monitor.
Power devices qualify for automotive duties
Monitors, regulators and references meet the requirements of AEC-Q100 Grade 1 for operation in automotive environments at temperatures up to 125C.
Rectifier controller makes MOSFETs behave
Zero point detector driver allows designers to replace lossy Schottky diodes with surface mount MOSFETs for improved efficiency in power supply designs.
The ZXCT1030's fixed gain of 10 permits the use of lower value sense resistors which result in a lower voltage drop across the measurement network, of benefit to high current systems.
Added functionality is provided by the device's built-in reference and comparator.
An external variable resistance sets a user definable threshold for the comparator, which generates an output signal once the monitor output has reached the threshold.
The signal can then be used by an external microcontroller.
Easy to use, with a minimal external component count and supporting input voltages from 2.5 to 20V, the ZXCT1030 will certainly serve a wide range of applications that includes battery chargers, smart battery packs and DC motor controllers.
And with an operating bandwidth of 6MHz the current monitor will also handle switch mode power supply duties, while its typical quiescent current rating of 270uA will make it attractive to a wealth of portable product designs.
The price of the ZXCT1030 through distributors is $0.68 in quantities of 10,000.
