Acoustar digital amplifier processing technology is being exploited to provide unprecedented sound fidelity in Theta's new digital audio amplifier, the Virtu PowerDAC.

Acoustar digital amplifier processing technology is being exploited to provide unprecedented sound fidelity in Theta's new digital audio amplifier, the Virtu PowerDAC, which was launched this month at Cedia Expo in Indianapolis, USA Theta Digital is one of the USA's leading manufacturers of high-end digital audio and video products

The company had been researching potential digital amplifier designs for many years, but until it evaluated the Zetex Acoustar devices last autumn it had been unable to identify a sufficiently developed control technology to realise the level of performance its engineers were demanding.

Since then the two companies have been working together to develop and refine the technology.

Commented Neil Sinclair, President of Theta Digital: "Zetex is the first engineering team to bring us the tools we need to produce a truly audiophile-calibre product".

"We performed a series of listening tests, and no other product came close".

"Zetex has provided us with an amazing toolkit - not an amp-in-a-box - to which we have applied our knowledge and expertise and achieved a Theta product we're all proud of".

The Virtu Power DAC is a seven channel 150W full digital power amplifier developed on the strengths of the Zetex Acoustar processing technology.

The full 32bit datapath, high 1MHz modulation frequency and ZTA digital filter combine to form the foundation for Theta's development of this outstanding amplifier.
