MCUs raise the bar for 8bit systems
Zilog's new high-performance eZ80Acclaim! 8bit microcontroller family features up to 256Kbyte of reprogrammable Flash memory, Ethernet MAC and TCP/IP protocols and a complete design kit.
BGA package shrinks microcontroller footprint
A new 144-ball BGA package reduces the size of the eZ80Acclaim! eZ80F91 by 65%, freeing precious PCB real estate for applications in which space is a critical constraint.
This makes them ideal for embedded control applications in hostile environments, such as industrial control, automation, security systems, outdoor vending machines, and remote facility monitoring and control.
Early adopters of the eZ80Acclaim! have confirmed that Zilog's new 8bit products are powerful yet affordable for a solution that provides tremendous performance and a rich feature set rivalling even some 16 and 32bit solutions.
These products offer a robust on chip reprogrammable Flash memory (up to 256Kbyte), as well as up to 8Kbyte of SRAM.
Additionally, these products include an optimised, power-efficient pipelined architecture with an upgraded Z80 50MHz core and an enhanced instruction set which insure optimal and superior performance.
Key features include an on-chip 10/100Base-T Ethernet MAC (media access controller) with an 8Kbyte high-speed packet buffer, embedded TCP/IP software supporting a host of standard protocols, and a complete design kit.
An infra-red encoder/decoder provides IrDA-compatibility, which extends the Ethernet/Internet connections to wireless handheld products.
All products in the eZ80Acclaim! family offer backwards compatibility with Zilog's popular Z80 family of microprocessors allowing leverage of prior investment in software application code and enhancing time to market of product development for Z80 users.
The eZ80F91 is available in 144-pin LQFP and the eZ80F92/93 are available in 100-pin LQFP packages.
The eZ80Acclaim! family of Flash 8bit microcontrollers with extended temperature ranges are priced between US $7.72 and $14.06 in 10,000-off volumes.
