With a little over a week still to go, the Zilog "Flash for cash" design contest has attracted more than 600 entries from all over the world.
The contest will close to new entries on 31st October 31.
Engineers are competing for 14 cash prizes worth a total of $20,000.
The contest encourages designers to develop creative applications or to update a proven technology using a ZiLOG Z8 Encore! Flash microcontroller.
To enter, the designer must submit a 500-word abstract on any working electronics project based on the Z8 Encore! Flash microcontroller, along with an entry form.
A panel of independent judges will choose contest winners on the basis of technical merit, originality, usefulness, cost-effectiveness and design optimisation.
While supplies last, contestants will be provided with a Z8 Encore! smart cable demonstration board, which includes a smart cable serial PC-connected programming board, two 40-pin DIP Z8F6401 samples, graphical user interface (GUI) software, ANSI C-compiler, sample code, and device driver software.
For complete rules and an entry form for the design contest, visit Zilog's website.
