In addition to the Flash memory, several new design features have been added to the series, including innovative new enhanced IR learning remote functionality.
Controller has universal appeal for IR remotes
Universal infra-red remote control system can be easily integrated to any digital device to provide immediate remote control capability.
"The launch of the SSL Security Kit for the eZ80Acclaim MCU family marks a significant milestone in Zilog's low-cost embedded networking strategy", said Ramesh Ramchandani, Zilog's Senior Vice President of Marketing.
"In addition to providing standard TCP/IP features in their end products, our customers can now rapidly develop, prototype and bring to market embedded networking applications specifically requiring secured transmission of sensitive data such as credit card transactions on POS terminals or vending machines, or critical command and control functions of networked industrial equipment".
The addition of the SSL security feature for eZ80Acclaim! Flash microcontrollers also brings significant cost savings to our customers", Ramchandani explained.

Microcontroller upgrades for networking duties
The latest addition to the eZ80Acclaim! family of 8bit MCUs is an enhanced device designed for use in Internet/intranet-based networking and communications applications.
"Until now, developing applications using SSL would typically require 32bit processing power, which can prove expensive".
"Our high performance eZ80Acclaim! products, when used together with the highly optimised SSL solution offered in the development kit, make SSL possible in 8bit applications without the high cost and complexity of 32bit designs".
"The result is secured data transmission for any TCP/IP application over private or public networks at a lower system cost".
The embedded network security kit includes ZTP, Zilog's feature-rich TCP/IP protocol stack software suite integrated with a pre-emptive multitasking RTOS and optimised for embedded systems.
ZTP works in harmony with all eZ80Acclaim! devices, which feature excellent networking and communication capabilities that bring new levels of performance in the 8bit MCU market.
eZ80Acclaim! products feature on-chip Flash memory, network connectivity peripherals, as well as 50MHz performance targeting a wide range of applications such as industrial control, automation, IP appliances, point-of-sale terminals and security systems.
Furthermore, Zilog's development kits are modular by design, and are compatible with various Zilog Modular Development System (MDS) application boards.
This offers customers the benefit of easy migration between devices.
The eZ80Acclaim! Embedded Network Security Kit comprises the eZ80F91 modular development kit with the added SSL software to support secured data transmission using industry compliant encryption technology.
The US version of the Embedded Network Security Kit (eZ80F910SSLKIT) is available now.
An International version (eZ80F911SSLKIT) will follow immediately.
Both kits are priced at US $450.00.
