Programming support for the Z8 Encore! family of 8bit Flash microcontrollers (MCUs) is now available from Taiwan-based IC programmer provider Hi-Lo Systems The support is available to customers using Hi-Lo's new ALL-100 universal programmer

Hi-Lo, widely regarded as one of the leading professional manufacturers of IC programmer devices, enjoys significant market share with a customer base covering more than 40 countries, and is particularly strong in Asia-Pacific markets.

Zilog and Hi-Lo Systems have been working together for many years.

For example, Hi-Lo already supports many of Zilog's Z8 one-time- programmable (OTP) devices via its universal programmer and gang programmer products.

"The latest development and provision of programming support for our Z8 Encore! Flash devices by Hi-Lo is extremely positive for us as a company", commented LM Wang, Vice President and Managing Director, Zilog Sales, Asia and Japan.

"Hi-Lo's position as a dominant player will allow Zilog's products to be more visible to their extensive customer base".

"As a result, thousands of Hi-Lo's global customers will have a cost-effective programming solution that enables them to work with Zilog's award-winning MCUs, receiving additional benefits and leverage from their investment in Hi-Lo's equipment.

It's a win-win situation for both companies and their customers".

"For Hi-Lo, providing support for Zilog is important", added Grason Kirk, Technical Support Manager, Hi-Lo Systems.

"It is extremely beneficial to have an agreement with a significant MCU vendor, whose devices are popular and widely used and which have been an industry benchmark for three decades, in the support list of the ALL-100 programmer".

"We have a large number of installed bases around the world.

Being able to select Zilog devices allows our customers to take advantage of Zilog's extensive support network".

"We plan on extending our support to other Zilog devices in the near future".

Zilog devices are now embedded in over a billion end-use devices worldwide in applications as diverse as consumer electronics and appliances, building control, factory automation, financial transaction processing, computer peripherals and the automotive after-market.

The Z8 Encore! family of Flash microcontrollers offers up to 64Kbyte of Flash memory with performance further enhanced by Zilog's register-to-register architecture, featuring a 20MHz CPU core, up to 4Kbyte of RAM, and a three-channel DMA controller.

Hi-Lo's ALL-100 supports device programming for a variety of device types covering EPROM, EEPROM, serial PROM, Flash, PLD/CPLD/FPGA, MPU/MCU and so on.

Most programmable devices in DIP, SDIP, SOP, SSOP, TSOP, PLCC, QFP or BGA package types can be programmed on a DIP48 programming module directly or through an appropriate adapter/convertor.

The ALL- 100 features high-tech pin drivers to provide excellent programming quality at high speed, with high reliability and high expansion flexibility.

All pin drivers built in ALL-100 are fully programmable to meet modern programming/testing needs, including newly released low voltage devices in the market.

A high speed USB port is provided to connect to the majority of notebook or desktop PC running under Windows 98 SE/Me/NT/2000 SP4/XP SP1/Server 2003.

Up to eight sets of ALL-100s can be run simultaneously via tiered star USB to achieve the highest throughputs.

The ALL-100 is the most powerful single-socket universal programmer designed to help engineers tackle today's challenges in device programming.
