Upgrade for microcontroller software suite

Zilog has rolled out a new version of its integrated pre-emptive multitasking operating system and TCP/IP protocol software suite for its eZ80Acclaim! family of 8bit Flash MCUs.
The new release, ZTP 1.5, is available free to registered customers.
When used in conjunction with Zilog's high-performance eZ80Acclaim! microcontrollers, the turnkey ZTP software suite provides a complete embedded networking solution across a vast array of applications that include industrial control, automation, facility management, IP appliances and remote systems communication.
Powered by Zilog's new RZK 1.2 real-time kernel, ZTP offers full-feature operating systems services in addition to network services.
"In keeping with previous versions, ZTP 1.5 is designed to be scalable, modular and user friendly, reduce time-to-market and product development costs for our customers", noted Ramesh Ramchandani, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Zilog.
"It continues to offer a rich set of features, which have been highly optimised for the stringent memory and performance requirements of typical 8bit embedded applications".
For more than two years, Zilog customers have been using the ZTP stack.
This new release further improves customer ease of use by leveraging the capabilities of Zilog's ZDS II integrated development environment (IDE) toolchain.
For example, when porting the ZTP code to the customers' application board, the ZDS II automatically handles the hardware configuration using a preset XML configuration file.
There is no need to modify the project files.
In addition, ZTP 1.5 now follows the same startup and initialisation procedure as the ZDS II.
With further enhanced features based on customer feedback, ZTP 1.5 provides an easy migration path for customers using previous versions.
The application programming interface (API), improved TCP/IP stack and real time kernel performance of ZTP 1.5 accelerates application development, enabling customers to rapidly deploy their solutions in time-critical applications.
ZTP 1.5 also offers data persistence for customers' static IP parameters.
The new RZK 1.2 real-time kernel, designed for time-critical embedded control applications, now extends the Flash file system to support external Flash parts from AMD, Atmel and Micron.
Flash driver code is provided with the option to modify the source code for other Flash chips of customer choice.
More new features include a more reliable UART driver, improved interrupt latency and better overall system performance.
Available immediately, ZTP 1.5 object code package (part number EZ800000100STO) and RZK 1.2 object code package (part number EZ800000100KRO) can be downloaded free of charge by all registered customers of the eZ80Acclaim! Flash MCUs.
ZTP 1.5 source code package includes the RZK source code (part number EZ800000100STS) and is available for purchase at US $1995.00.
RZK 1.2 source code is also available for purchase separately (part number EZ800000100KRS) at US $595.00.
