Paper in China discusses mismatch handling
Zkom is presenting optimised IC design solutions at the International Congress in Shanghai that celebrates ten years of computer chip industry in China.
The Chinese computer chip industry is due to celebrate its 10th birthday in Shanghai.
The Dortmund-based company Zkom will be the only German company to participate and will also be presenting its solutions for optimised IC design to this booming market.
An international congress to mark the 10th anniversary of the Chinese IC design industry will be held in Shanghai from 7 to 9 December.
The event is set to draw distinguished players from the field of research and industry.
Michael Hartung, Managing Director of Zkom will also be taking part in the event as one of the speakers.
His paper will be concentrating on the highly topical subject of "Mismatch Handling" in submicron technologies.
Owing to the continuing miniaturisation trend in the electronics industry, this topic belongs to the key factors of successfully developing integrated circuits that offer increasingly higher performance, are smaller in size and more reliable.
The congress will be accompanied by a trade fair where providers of EDA (Electronic Design Automation) solutions in particular will be presenting their current product ranges.
Zkom in conjunction with its Chinese distributor EastWell will also be represented at the fair with its own exhibition stand.
The current 4.0 version of the statistical simulator, Crystal Yield, will be jointly demonstrated by the companies.
Up to now, conventional simulators have only been able to simulate ideal states of a chips circuit behaviour.
However, such simulations take no account of unavoidable deviations that occur during chip production irrespective of the process used.
This results in a higher volume of scrap during production.
Crystal Yield is the worlds leading product for statistical simulations of IC design.
The software guarantees lasting acceleration and improvement of the entire process chain from chip design right through to mass production.
IC designs therefore no longer need to be tested on the basis of expensive and time-consuming prototypes and small series production.
Crystal Yield can precisely calculate the future quality of a design or the scrap volume during subsequent production and will even identify critical devices and their quantitative effect on the volume of scrap produced.
This makes it possible to optimise chips already during the design phase thus saving time and money.
Crystal Yield therefore bridges the critical gap between IC design and production.
"China belongs to our most important markets", said Michael Hartung.
"It is therefore considered a matter of course that ZKOM is directly represented at such key events.
Chinese chip designers and producers are extremely ambitious and Crystal Yield offers just the potential needed to exert a lasting and positive influence on innovation and reliability in the submicron industries.".
