Conditioner diagnoses piezoresistive
bridges
The ZMD31015 is a signal conditioner IC with on-chip diagnostics for use with nearly all piezoresistive bridge sensors.
New from ZMD, the ZMD31015 is a signal conditioner IC with on-chip diagnostics for use with nearly all piezoresistive bridge sensors The CMOS semiconductor device is the newest member of ZMD's growing family of resistive bridge (RBic-Lite) signal conditioner integrated circuits

RF transceiver boosts in-building performance
Available now from ZMD is the company's second-generation ZMD44102 RF transceiver integrated circuit and starter kits.
The ZMD31015 provides highly accurate amplification and sensor-specific correction of bridge sensor signals.
Enhanced real-time diagnostics further detect any faulty connections, shorts and power loss events.
Signal conditioning is accomplished using an internal digital signal processor running a correction algorithm based on calibration coefficients stored in an on-chip, nonvolatile EEPROM.
The measured and corrected bridge values are provided at the signal pin, which can be configured as an analogue voltage output or as a one-wire serial digital output.
The digital one-wire output can also be used for a simple PC-controlled procedure to program calibration coefficients into the on-chip EEPROM.
By calibrating the chip to a specific sensor digitally, users gain the benefits of speed and precision, while minimising cost overhead typically associated with trimming methods using costly lasers and/or external devices.
The device's integrated diagnostics make the ZMD31015 ideally suited for automotive applications, as well as industrial, consumer and medical product applications.
The RBic-Lite development kit supports the ZMD31015 and is available through the company's website.
The kit includes a development board, SOP8 samples, software and supporting documentation.
The ZMD31015 is available now in an SOP8 or die at a unit cost of $1.75 each in volumes of 50,000 pieces.
Support for industrial mass calibration is available, as is quick circuit customisation for large production volumes.
