Zuken has signed a multi-million-Euro eight-year agreement with Siemens VDO Automotive to provide an integrated environment for electronics engineering and data management.

Zuken has signed a multi-million-Euro eight-year agreement with Siemens VDO Automotive to provide an integrated environment for electronics engineering and data management using Zuken's CR-5000 and e-PLM (DS2) solutions The primary objective is to harmonise the organisation's global design environment in teams at 20 different sites across America, Europe and Asia

Zuken had to prove that its solutions could meet the technology demands of tomorrow.

The company had to illustrate the solutions capabilities for effectively handling design reuse; generic, module and variant options, product complexity and an extensive portfolio.

And finally Zuken had to show the ability to transition the entire organisation from isolated solutions to a system solution, in an efficient, cost-effective process.

In total, around 250 seats of the robust and scalable enterprise-wide design solution CR-5000 will be deployed within electronic product design teams across the globe.

At a system level, they will be using the graphical capture and analysis design entry based environment, CR-5000 System Designer.

This solution is fully integrated with CR-5000 Board Designer, the board level tool for designing PCBs, BGAs and MCMs, which will be implemented throughout operations simultaneously.

The e-PLM (DS2) solution completes the globally synchronised electronics engineering environment, by providing integration between the general EDA environment, PCB environment and manufacturing environments.

Designed specially for electronic product manufacturers, it provides a data management solution that spans across the product lifecycle, from product planning through to assembly and test.

The contract follows the conclusion of long term deals with Siemens Automation and Drives in 2003 and Siemens Transportation Systems Group in 2005, making this the third major contract agreement with companies in the Siemens group over the last three years.
