OLED materials research comes to Brunel
OLED-T has invested $900,000 in a R and D facility on the Brunel University Science Park site, Uxbridge
The new 186m2 R and D facility is a chemistry laboratory that will enable OLED-T to accelerate the production of its OLED materials known as Elamates and develop future generations of materials. The chemistry laboratory will enable OLED materials to be developed, manufactured and tested. DisplaySearch, the worldwide leader in display market research and consulting, reported that the OLED industry reached revenues of over $500 million in 2005 and forecast revenues of more than $4.6 billion by 2010.
'The OLED market is growing incredibly fast and the opportunities for the future of the technology, especially in small form factor displays such as MP3 players and mobile phones, are massive', said Myrddin Jones, CEO, OLED-T.
'OLED-T is strongly positioned to capitalise on this opportunity through the supply of OLED materials to display manufacturers worldwide'.
'The new facility will enable OLED-T to scale the production of its Elamate OLED materials to commercial quantities', added Jones.
OLED-T will operate the new facility in parallel with its manufacturing and device test laboratory on the Innova Science Park, Enfield, North London.
OLED-T develops, manufactures and licenses high efficiency, long life-time materials for OLED displays.
Its portfolio of materials offers significant efficiency improvements of up to 80% over competing materials, and lifetimes of as much as three times that of competing OLED materials.
OLED-T has over 60 patents in the area of materials for OLEDs including electroluminescent materials.
It sells its materials directly to OLED display manufacturers worldwide, primarily in Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
